Hey all. I found this new program on the whitestick website called C cleaner. What it does is remove old junk files from your system. It's free and does more then just delete the temp files, recycle bin, etc. It also cleans the registry. It works with jaws and is free. You can get it at the downloads section of the whitestick website www.whitestick.co.uk or www.ccleaner.com
Has anyone else used this program? If so what do you think?

Hi, all! Yes, I have used CCleaner. I just used it earlier today in fact, and have been using it for quite awhile now. The C litterally stands for crap cleaner, and that's what it does. For anyone freaked out about the program deleting things it should not, you have control over what it erases and what it doesn't, and if you involve your registry in any way, the program prompts you to make a back-up copy of the registry before anything is done. I've donated to the people that make CCleaner several times. the software is free, but is good enough to be paid software. Check it out, if you haven't done so yet, and want something to help keep your hard-drive from getting cluttered.

Earlier tonight I downloaded and ran c-cleaner.

Recently I had a virus on my computer and spent a lot of time cleaning out my temp files, ie cache and history etc. Thought I was pretty thorough.

Good Lord, this little program found files galore. I'm sold.

Thanks for recommending it.

I've used this program for quite a while, with great success.

First off, being skeptical I gave the program a try.

I gotta say my jaw dropped when I saw how much shit that was removed from my computer. I had about 790.2 MB of crap that was stored on my computer that really didn't need to be there.

After I skimmed the long log file, I said "I gotta somehow get the word out about the program." It did make my computer run a little faster but not by much simply because my tech didn't remove windows XP completely from my computer. So until I have only one copy on the computer, it'll be slugish from time to time.

I'd certinally recommend this program be apart of your weekly scans as it'll clean your computer out. Especially if you go onto websites like MySpace.com that has loads of hidden BS that need not be there. It cleaned up areas that my regular scan programs missed.

I love this thing! Thanks for sharing Troy!

Oh yes! I downloaded it this morning and also deleted over 700 mb of crap off of this thing. I didn't see anything about registry or anything like that, but I'm not complaining.
It cleaned this thing in about 30 seconds. It made mine run faster than it did before I used it.
The disk cleanup utility that comes with windows can't compare to that thing. whitch is my opinion.

Seems that everyone likes this program, although i wouldn't trust it to mess with my registory, even if it made a backup.
I'll let it clean out my files, but with the registory, i've always said that unless its broken, don't try to fix it and thats avoided lots of crashes for me.

yeah i love c cleaner it really is a good programme. But, but easyCleaner is better than C cleaner.

Post 12 by sparkie (the hilljack) on Monday, 23-Oct-2006 20:58:01

Yes, I was impressed that a free program could clean so much crap out of a computer. The only thing I was afraid to delete is the files under the advanced section like windows cashe so I unchecked that section. Anyone know if it's safe to delete that section?

well i don't know, but it must be able to determine what's safe and what's not.

as for cleaning the registry, use your mouse curser of what ever you use as a screen reader, look for issues. it will look just like a word, not a button or anything. click on that, it will bring the registry cleaner up. it will give you the option to back up before cleaning.

What makes easyCleaner better?

Post 15 by blbobby (Ooo you're gona like this!) on Tuesday, 24-Oct-2006 13:45:41

I tried checking the stuff in the advanced section and my computer still works.

I do have a couple of issues. First, I wish there was a way to save a log file of the results of an analize or clean. It's easier to look in a text file than a read-only edit field where all the characters may or may not show up.

Secondly, and I think I've learned my lesson. I checked cookies in internet explorer, and it did. Well, that means I have to set things like preferences in google etc. No big deal, and I should have known better, but this is just a heads up that the program does what it says it's going to.

I always check the things in the advanced section, and my computer has been just fine. And yes Bob, I had to learn the hard way about not checking for it to delete cookies, too. Smile. Glad people have found this program. It really is a gem. Thanks for starting this thread, Troy.
